Human Rights
Human Rights:-
Islam has granted all the rights that people need, and since that Islam is Allah’s religion, those rights are granted by Allah, they are not granted by a legislative assembly or a king, so no one has the authority to change or deny any of the rights that Allah conferred to us.
The human rights in Islam has covered all people, rights for the believer and rights for the disbeliever, rights for the citizen and rights for the visitor, Allah preserved the human rights for all people by The Holy Quran, Allah says in The Holy Quran chapter 5 verse 44:”And whoever does not judge according to what Allah has sent down, then those are the deniers.”, also Allah says in The Holy Quran chapter 5 verse 45:” And whoever does not judge according to what Allah has sent down, then those are the unjust.”.
Examples of the human rights in Islam:-
-The Right to Live and Respect Human Life with the Right of Safety of Life:-
Allah says in the Holy Quran chapter 5 verse 32: “Whoever kills a (human) self -unless as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land - it will be as if they killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity.”
Saving a life can be with several forms, a man may die by starvation, then it is our duty to feed him, a man may be ill, then it is our duty to help him and arrange his treatment. In Islam, we believe that it is our duty to help and care for the others irrespectively of their race, color or nationality.
-The Rights of Helping the Needy and the Deprived:-
Allah says in the Holy Quran chapter 51 verse 19: “And in their wealth there was a rightful share fulfilled for the beggar and the poor.”
One of the economic rights that Allah enjoins upon His worshippers in the Holy Quran is that anyone suffers from deprivation or asks for help has a right in the wealth of the Muslim, irrespectively this needy person is a Muslim or not, or belong to this country or that, it is the duty of the Muslim to help this needy person as Allah established.
-The Right of Freedom:-
Slavery was a great wide trade practiced in all over the world before Islam, Islam came with the solution of slavery problem, Allah made the atonement of many sins is by freeing a slave to encourage Muslims to free the slaves all over the world, The Prophet Muhammad PBUH said “There are three categories of people against whom I shall myself be a plaintiff on the Day of Judgment, one of these three is he who enslaves a free man, then sell him and eats this money.”
-The Right to Justice:-
Islam acknowledge absolute equality between people, Islam doesn’t recognize any distinction of nationality, color, or race, Allah says in the Holy Quran chapter49 verse13: “O mankind, we have created you from a male and a female and made you into races and tribes, that you may know one another; indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah are the most mindful (of Him) among you; indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”
The superiority of one over another is based on piety and high morals, not based on your race, language, or color.
Allah says in the Holy Quran chapter 5 verse 8: ”And let not the hatred of any people provoke you to be unjust. Be just-that is nearer to mindfulness (of Allah), And be mindful of Allah; indeed, Allah is All-Aware of all that you do.”
-The Right of Civilians and Prisoners of War:-
The spirit of humanity and mercy is the heart of human rights in Islam when it comes to the rights of civilians and prisoners of war, Prophet Muhammad PBUH said “Do not kill a baby, woman, nor an old man (or woman).”, this is the soul of the Muslim’s civilization.
-The Right to Education:-
Islam respects and motivates scholars, Islam encourages to learn and gain knowledge, Islam calls scholars the successors of Prophets. Allah made the path of knowledge as a path to heaven, Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to paradise easy for him.”
